Materialism & Darwinism cannot provide meaning.
Children raised in a mechanical, disenchanted world grow up restless—hungry for magic, for purpose, for transcendence. If we don’t give them a rightly ordered wonder, they will look for it elsewhere.

Session 1: The Disenchanted Church May 13 @ 12:30pm Pacific
Over 100 years ago, sociologist Max Weber had said that science had “disenchanted the world.” In other words, science has removed meaning and transcendence from our worldview. The church today has largely bought into this lie, living as if the natural and supernatural worlds rarely if ever touch. How did we get here? What are the symptoms of the disenchanted church? And why is now a particularly bad time for the church to have a disenchanted worldview?
Session 2: Reenchanting Our Worldview May 20 @ 12:30pm Pacific
Christians need to recover an enchanted worldview, but the danger is that Christians might follow the culture, taking up practices that are spiritually dangerous. What should we avoid? What does a biblically-informed supernatural worldview look like? What does the Bible tell us about the invisible world and how it interacts with us? What does it tell us about the physical world? Is it just stuff or does it mean something? A full biblical worldview includes both the visible and invisible sides of Creation and how it all points us to the God Who created it.

In the modern and postmodern world, we tend to reduce things to what we can see, measure, and describe scientifically. But this is only one way to see the world and maybe not even the most important….The Medieval Model offers us resources to help us understand these parts of our experience and, more importantly, our place in the world and the question of meaning in our lives and in the cosmos. Science cannot give us answers to these questions, but fortunately, science isn’t the only lens we have to find truth.
